International Nanny Agency based in the UK
Since 1996, we have been successfully placing Nannies and Governesses with our international clients and continue to uphold our unrivalled reputation in many countries, principalities, duchies, kingdoms and empires across the globe.
Most of our new clients come through personal recommendation from Imperial clients, past and present.
Our highly regarded reputation gives our clients access to the best Nannies and Governesses worldwide.
Helping you select your perfect nanny or governess
We assist our clients from start to finish from introducing only high calibre candidates to arranging interviews, advising on work visas, and advising on the contract. We also offer on-going expert support and advice throughout the placement when required.
We completely understand from our clients’ lifestyle and their expectations, not to mention the demands of the location, the type of Imperial Nanny or Governess who will fit into the family and their household. When we say ‘demands’ of the location we are referring to the cultural or the climatic and, for some clients, the religious restrictions that have to be taken into consideration. A prime example is Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia where we have placed many of our Nannies and Governesses with Royal and VIP Households. There is, of course, a strict code to adhere to which our professional Nannies and Governesses are fully committed to.
Leave it to us!
Then there are the jet-setting families who travel extensively between time zones which demand a certain type of Imperial Nanny or Imperial Governess who is ready to go, making sure her charges and her charges’ clothes and treasured toys are also packed and ready to go. No easy feat! But we always have this calibre of Nanny or Governess ‘waiting in the wings’ for that certain special position to come along.
Leave it to us! Established in 1996, we have experience placing Nannies and Governesses worldwide with great success.
We have successfully placed our Nannies and Governesses in the following countries:
Europe: France, Belgium, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain
Scandinavia: Denmark, Sweden, Norway
Africa: Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria
Asia: The Far East: Hong Kong, Singapore, India
Middle East: Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, Israel, Turkey
North America subject to holding a Green Card or Visa
Our clients’ homes range from an apartment or townhouse in London with either a part-time Cleaner or full-time Housekeeper to a country estate which employs a full retinue of staff.
Our Nannies will expect to care for the childrens’ bedrooms and bathrooms, launder their clothing and bedding and keep the play areas clean and tidy. We call these full nursery duties and this works well in a small to medium-size household. On the other hand, in a fully staffed household, the childrens’ bedrooms and living quarters will be serviced by the Housekeeper, and the Chef will provide all the childrens’ meals having had the weekly menu planned by the Nanny. This household arrangement will require a Nanny who has a flexible attitude and is discreet to fit into what is an already established household team. She may also be required to wear a uniform for some or all of the time she is on duty.
You may wish to find a Nanny who can start as soon as possible or you may be working towards recruiting a Nanny who can start in 3 months’ time. Whatever your requirements, we can work towards/within your timescales and wish to assure you that we will always have candidates who are seeking either an immediate start or they are looking 3 months’ ahead and haven’t yet resigned from their current position.
If you require an immediate start, please don’t dismiss a candidate who has yet to give a month’s notice. What is a month’s wait for a Nanny who could prove to be a wonderful addition to your household for many years to come. We can always provide a temporary nanny in the interim!
We place Nannies who will work around the client’s requirements and their commitments both in terms of their business/career and social events. Having said that, live-in Nannies expect to work up to 10-12 hours per day Monday to Friday and daily Nannies 8 – 10 hours per day Monday – Friday.
Some of our clients require a 24/5 or a 24/6 schedule, and we will always have a selection of Nannies who will consider such positions, however, the salary will be higher to reflect the longer working hours and commitment. Some families will employ 2 or more Nannies depending on the number of children in the family and a rota is set up accordingly. We call this a Rota Position.
Some of our clients will employ a Nanny or Governess who will work a number of days/weeks straight through and will then be free for a number of days/weeks. For example, we placed a Nanny with a single parent who had full custody every other week and requested a Nanny who would work 24/7 Week One and was free 24/7 for Week Two. She was paid on a weekly basis which reflected her specific working hours. Some families will request 7 days on, 3 days off, etc.
It should be said that all Nannies and Governesses, whether live-in or live-out, must have sufficient time off to allow them to rest and not get overtired so that they can provide the very best care for your children and appear at the start of every working day fresh and ready for a full day’s work.
How International Clients Conduct Interviews
How our Overseas Clients conduct the interview process
Families can interview their shortlisted candidates in a number of ways:
- The quickest route is to conduct several in-depth video or telephone interviews, to telephone previous employers for a reference then offer employment. This can suit a client who lives further afield than Europe and this also speeds up the process especially if the client is looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible.
- Or you can hold initial video/telephone interviews before arranging for the preferred candidate(s) to have a final interview in the family home. The candidate would take an early morning flight to the client’s country and return to the UK later that day which avoids having to arrange an overnight stay (depending on distance of course). This is ideal as the candidate(s) will meet your children and see for themselves the family home, the accommodation and the local area.
- Or you can hold initial video or telephone interviews prior to coming to London to interview several candidates in person. Then invite one or two of the candidates to spend one or two days with your family for an extended interview before offering employment to the candidate of your choice.
We will work with the Client’s preferred method of communication and process and guide both parties to assist with the selection process so that the right decision is made and that all goes smoothly. Do bear in mind that we always ask that Clients make contact as early as possible with their short-listed candidates as they are in great demand and get snapped up quickly especially those with an ASAP start.
The Overseas Employer should be aware that they will be required to meet the following obligations:
Provide a reference from a person who has known them for 3 years and who is not a relative, to state how long they have known them, in what capacity and that any employment will not be detrimental to the employee’s health.
Pay for the candidate’s travel expenses to their interview.
Provide a return air ticket to the candidate’s country of residence at the start and end of their employment.
Provide their employee with the necessary visa and other legal documentation to ensure that their employment and residing in the employer’s country is legal.
Pay for any medical checks as required for Visa purposes.
Provide medical insurance.
Pay the employee’s tax and other legally required fees where the employment will take place.
